Wow I didnt see that coming. All week I had lost my mojo ! No workouts, no willpower, no oomph !! What happened to me?! Maybe I needed Life coaching sessions.
This can happen with workouts, eating patterns, work related progress, INFACT almost anything can suddenly change from high levels of motivation to full on CBA procrastination zones. Using Life coaching sessions to work through these tough periods can be invaluable.
So when these lulls land out of the blue they can throw us off the steady controlled path of consistency and safety we once found ourselves upon. Let me discuss with you what your body is trying to tell you and most importantly what you can do about it the next time it happens with or without the help of having Life coaching sessions.
In this blog I’m going to show you why its important to stop, listen to your body and sit with yourself during these periods. And why you may benefit from Life coaching sessions to get you crystal clear on what it is you want and how to take action to get those things you desire.
About Moi
If you’ve never read anything about me before, hey I’m Nat Walton, Life Coach and Fear and Anxiety Expert. Why do I qualify for this very title? Because I have experienced the worst anxiety, self doubt and hypervigilance in my life and learned to master my emotions to turn it all around to feel calm, happy and at peace with who I am.

As I sit in my garden writing away, you need to know, I never thought it would be possible to be still and manage to relax enough to allow this. Can you guess why? That’s right, I had to keep busy to constantly distract from myself. I would rush round doing anything that made me feel productive. (WHOLLY impractical! Definitely wouldn’t recommend it, leads directly to burnout. Not actually necessary to lead a calm, happy and fulfilled life, it transpires).
Anyway back to the topic…
Why do we suddenly feel just like we CANNOT BE ARSED?!
It’s all well and good having structure, commitment and routine. But and this a BIG but. Sometimes the daily grind becomes monotonous, tedious, boring, even chore like. What you once found exciting, uplifting and productive lost its buzz, its va va voom or whatever you wanna call it.
Yes of course, some people might push through the boredom, deny their body and mind of what it is trying to tell them. But I say… ABSOLUTELY not! You and I know that becoming consciously aware of what your body is trying to communicate to you is crucial when it comes to making conscious life choices and lasting changes.
For whatever reason you have changed and your needs require a new approach.
So what do I do Nat?
Firstly… you need to sit with yourself and be super honest about what no longer fills your cup right now. It maybe you need a change of routine, scenery, or even people. Nothing is beyond the realm of possibility when it comes to making changes in your life. The mind is always so good at convincing us otherwise but the mind can also deceive us !
Then… you need to be really honest with yourself about what’s not working for you. Your job is boring, you hate your colleagues, you can’t get off the sofa to attend that exercise class or breaking the cycle of binge eating every night before bed seems impossible and your despise yourself for it.
Next up… Sit with it. By sitting with the discomfort and allowing yourself to not apply even more pressure will help you find some clarity much faster than forcing yourself into a new behaviour. Sitting with feeling like shit about yourself needs to happen sometimes so that you can work out why you feel so bad before you take action. After all, all emotions are just waves of energy passing through your body and the more you resist them, the more you will get of them. Let them flow through you making way for a more positive emotion.

And finally decision time…
Once you’ve gotten clarity upon what exactly you want from your life, you can do your research. Knowledge really is power and if you search enough, you’ll realise that every scenario has a chance to be altered for the better, even if that means changing your perspective towards it.
For example, the man who’s wife might be dying of stage 4 cancer may feel depressed, lonely and isolated in his devastation and despair. There are two ways to view the situation.
- Im going to live the rest of my life alone and sad
- I am going to embrace every single second with her and trust myself enough to get the help I need to deal with this when she has passed
Or the gym go-er that has lost their mojo like I did can either choose to think:
- I’ve missed a week’s session, I may as well just quit right now, I’m a complete failure at this
- Ok so I missed a week but I will go today, change my routine completely and ask someone to come with me
Or the binge eater who ate the entire contents of the fridge before moving onto the contents of the cupboard only to bake a whole batch of scones to devour
- I have lost complete control of my behaviour, I feel embarrassed and ashamed, I will never get a grip of this
- I deserve to feel safe and in control around food. I refuse to be beaten by my compulsions. I will love myself enough to seek help with this
I mean obviously all these examples take a little work from each person and they may require some Life coaching sessions to assist them. But come on people, “if it was easy then it wouldn’t be worth it!”.
Conclusion…
Next time you feel like you just CBA maybe it’s time to stop, take stock and really address what’s on going underneath the surface with you.
For me, I just needed a break for my body and a change up in the old routine. But who knows when the next lull might strike and when it does I’ll be ready to stop, tune in and listen to myself.
After nearly one whole week of rest and listening to my body (because I probably do a little bit too much, but don’t tell anybody I admitted that) I got to work. I called my gym buddy and told him to meet me there (to hold me accountable) as I knew it was time to get back on the gym wagon. And guess what? We worked out together, changed up the routine which made things fresh and exciting again!
The result? I am happy to say I am back in full flow loving the gym again and reaping all the rewards exercise brings me. WOOOP!
