Fear. The very word can instill a physical sense of tightening in the chest and nerves in your tummy. We’ve all experienced it – that dread that suddenly grips us, the paralysis of doubt before making a decision or trying something new for the first time. But what if I told you that fear itself is not something to fear, that living through fear is not something to avoid, numb, or fight… but something to live through?
In this blog I will show you what it means for you to live through fear and anxiety and how that will transform YOU as a person from growing in confidence to reaching new levels you never dreamed possible.
As a Life Coach I see client after client riddled with all kinds of fears. The clients that get the best from Life Coaching are the ones prepared to stand up to fear and embrace it. They carry on regardless of their fear even when they are ALL consumed with terror. Sounds a bit cliche I know, but hear me out. Having the courage to look fear in the eyes and explore what the underlying cause is gives way to making peace with your fear and moving in flow with it as opposed to against it. Take a look at what will happen if you do the same.
Growth Comes From Living Through Fear
Fear often crops up as your sign that something needs to change. Speaking your truth, feeling the anxiety of asking for a pay rise or leaving an abusive relationship are all ways that make us feel uncomfortable and vulnerable. When you face up to these challenges in life you prove to yourself that you CAN handle it, ultimately leading to your growth.
Brain Rewiring Takes Place
Neuroplasticity is when you produce new behaviours that lead to new neural pathways to form in your brain. The more you repeat your new behaviours, the more ingrained the neural pathways become, making it easier to revert to those new confident ways in times of anxiety, stress and fear related situations.
“The More Things You Do, The More You Can Do!”
Lucille BallAuthentic Confidence
There is a huge difference between arrogance and confidence. Arrogance is rooted in insecurity and authentic confidence comes from a self aware state of self acceptance, security and appreciation and respect for yourself. The first relies upon external validation and focuses on comparison of yourself to others. The latter means being at peace with your strengths and weaknesses.
Emotional Resilience From The Growth Zone
When you start living in your “growth zone” instead of your comfort zone, you start to learn to get used to feelings of anxiety and fear. You become acclimatised to the feelings and this eventually leads to you living without being ruled by anxiety.
The more intentional you are about being in your growth zone, the more resilient you become emotionally.
Wait For Nothing
Once you start living in your growth zone, you no longer stop and wait and sit in the dark wondering all the “what if’s” that come with feelings of fear and anxiety. You can now push through the discomfort and LIVE your life !
Lastly, if you are feeling crippled with fear and anxiety right now, it doesn’t mean you’re failing in some way. It means you are on the brink of something important. If you can allow that feeling to teach you, treat it like your own personal compass, you will find that it will grow you, not shrink you.
